Overview

When a license is installed and the Call Ctrl is configured to use a specific phone to which it was licensed. If while this license is installed and Call Ctrl is configured to use a differant phone the following error message will displayed to the user.

The license is not valid for this SPA Phone. This could be because you have changed the SPA Phone since installing the license.
Licensed SPA Serial No: 123456789012 This SPA Serial No: 012345678901
You may need to install a new license using the original License Key provided to you when you purchased the product.

Background

The error is gererated when the licensed SPA Phone serial number doesn't match the serial number Call Ctrl is connected to. Each update Call Ctrl recieves includes the phone's serial number and when this serial number doesnt match the installed license this error will be thrown.

Resolution

Call Ctrl is forced to shutdown when this error is generated so it is impossible to change any settings using the Settings/SIP Settings window in Call Ctrl. This requires the application to be shutdown and manually edit the user.configuration files and setting the SPA Phone Address to the correct address which corresponds to the correct serial number.

Once Call Ctrl is running properly the License may be uninstalled and either a new license installed or install the right License File for that particular serial which matches the phone you changed to.
