Create a Shared Directory Between Multiple Users

Call Ctrl allows for great flexibility for locally stored contact information and shared contact information between Call Ctrl Users. Call Ctrl has two potential sources for directory listings.

  • Corporate Directory - This directory is accessible from the SPA Phone by selecting Directory/Corporate Directory. This directory information is queried by Call Ctrl and populates the Call Ctrl user interace under the listing Directory. The users also have the ability to add contact to the Directory, but is only visible to the local phone and is not shared across all phones.
  • Call Ctrl Directory - This is user defined directory listing based on xml data stored on the local system or a network drive. The directory xml file is installed by default in C:\Program Files\CTRL IT\Call Ctrl\CallCtrlDirectory.xml. When entries are added to this file the information is displayed in the Call Ctrl user interface under the Directory listing. The added benefit of using this file is that the file may be copied to a shared location such as a network drive where multiple users can access. This will enable all users to view the same data. This data is in addition to the Corporate Directory, but allows a shared Directory listing which may contain external numbers which are not permitted to add to the Corporate Directory. There is also the ability for each user to have individual files using the local path. This configuration is similar to how the Speed Dial works. The only differance is the Speed Dial entries are available for Add/Edit/Delete from with in the Call Ctrl Setting/ Speed Dial tab. The Call Ctrl Directory file must be modified manually using a text editor such as Notepad.exe.

To enable the shared directory modify the CallCtrlDirectory.xml file from C:\Program Files\CTRL IT\Call Ctrl\ and saving to shared location. There are two configuration required for Call Ctrl users to access this file

  1. CallCtrlDirectory
Path where Call Ctrl XML Directory file is located. This allows multiple users to all point to the same file for shared contacts outside the SPA 9000 Corporate Direcotry.

  2. CallCtrlDirectoryFile
Provides the ability to specify a Directory file per user. Allows users to have differant Directory files which can then be shared by multiple users. The path is an application setting shared by all users on the local computer, but by allowing the change of the file name allows differant files to be accessed per user by simply changing the file name of the file the user requires access.
